His Grace Archbishop George Desmond Tambala is the head of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and administrative oversight to the Catholic community in the region. Appointed as Archbishop in 2021, he brings a wealth of experience in pastoral ministry, social development, and leadership within the Church.
Born in Zomba, Malawi, Archbishop Tambala joined the Discalced Carmelites and was ordained as a priest in 1996. His dedication to the Church has seen him serve in various capacities, including leadership roles at both national and international levels. Prior to his appointment as Archbishop, he served as Bishop of Zomba Diocese.

Auxiliary Bishop Vincent Mwakhwawa serves alongside Archbishop George Tambala, supporting the pastoral and administrative needs of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. He was appointed as Auxiliary Bishop in 2023, bringing a passion for evangelization, youth empowerment, and community development./p>
